Defence Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone for the ₹1800 crore BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing (BRAHMA) — a state-of-the-art Greenfield Rail Manufacturing facility — in Umaria village of Raisen district, Madhya Pradesh, on August 10, 2025.

This facility of Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) will produce coaches for India’s high-speed trains, such as Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat. It is expected to create over 5,000 employment opportunities.

Sustainability and Environmental Compliance

The BRAHMA facility will incorporate recycled and sustainable building materials, ensuring compliance with the highest environmental and safety standards, including statutory environmental clearances and green factory norms.

With this new hub, India aims to strengthen its domestic rail manufacturing capacity, reduce dependence on imports, and accelerate the rollout of advanced, energy-efficient trains.
