The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), in consultation with the Ministry of Ayush, has unveiled a definitive list of Ayurveda Aahara products. The list contains 22 food preparation categories called Aahara Kalpana. The Food Business Operators (FBOs) can propose additional products for inclusion, provided they are backed by classical Ayurvedic literature.
This development follows the implementation of the Food Safety and Standards (Ayurveda Aahara) Regulations, 2022, which formally recognize Ayurvedic foods that are based on authoritative Ayurvedic texts, bringing clarity and confidence to consumers, health practitioners, and food businesses.
