Explanation – The Constitution was adopted by Constituent Assembly at its 11 session on 26 November, 1949.
The Constituent Assembly began its work on 9th December and Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected as its Chairman. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was appointed as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee. After a detailed discussion, the Constitution of India was finally adopted on 26th November 1949. The Constitution came into effect on 26th January 1950. Since then the day is celebrated as Republic Day.
