📝 India Justice Report 2025[1]

🔎 Findings

👉🏽 Approx 15 judges per million population in India ⇒ 1987 Law Commission recommended 50 judges per million population.

👉🏽 Share of women judges: Increased to 38.3% in the district judiciary and 14% in the High Courts in 2025 ⇒ Supreme Court has only two (6%) women judges.

👉🏽 No state spends more than 1% of its annual expenditure on the judiciary.

📝 Registration of births and deaths in India[2]

🚀 Governed by RBD Act, 1969 (as amended in 2023) ⇒ Makes registration of all births and deaths across India mandatoryNegligence by a registrar in registration is punishable.

👉🏽 2023 amendment mandates a digital database of all registered events, maintained by the Registrar General of India (RGI).

🚀 Under the Civil Registration System (CRS), the govt hospitals function as registrars ⇒ Private hospitals must report events to designated govt registrars; they cannot register independently [Implementation varies by state]

👉🏽 All registrations from Oct 1, 2023, must be via the CRS online portal.

🤔 What is CRS, and when was it established?

💡Digital birth certificates: Sole proof of date of birth from October 1, 2023.

💡Nearly 10% of births and deaths go unregistered as per RGI.

📝 Monsoon Forecast 2025[3][4][5]

🚀 IMD has predicted above normal rainfall during 2025’s southwest monsoon ⇒ Approx 105% of LPA

💡Long Period Average (LPA) of the southwest monsoon in India is taken for the period 1971-2020, and it is 87 cm.

🚀 IMD’s new forecast strategy: Based on both the statistical and dynamic forecasting systems.

👉🏽 Statistical Ensemble Forecasting System (SEFS): Introduced in 2007

👉🏽 Dynamic: Multi-Model Ensemble (MME) forecasting system ⇒ Implemented in 2021 ⇒ Uses the Coupled Global Climate Models (CGCMs) from different global climate prediction and research centres, including IMD’s Monsoon Mission Climate Forecasting System (MMCFS) model ⇒ MMCFS and MME forecasts are updated every month.

👉🏽 SEFS and MME systems helped IMD to reduce its forecast error by 18% during 2007-2024 compared to 1989-2006.

📝 Justice Kurian Joseph Committee[6]

🚀 Appointed by the Tamil Nadu government to review centre-state relations and suggest measures for improvement.  

💡 P.V. Rajamannar Committee: Appointed by the Tamil Nadu government in 1969 to look into the centre-states relations.
