Explanation – As per the recommendations proposed by Cabinet Mission (1946), members of Constituent Assembly were elected by the members of the Provincial Legislative Assemblies.
The Constituent Assembly was to be a partly nominated and partly elected body. The members were to be indirectly elected by the members of the provincial assemblies, who themselves were elected on a limited franchise. The Government of India Act, 1935 granted limited franchise on the basis of tax, property and education. |
